I'd like to thank you all for coming to the MUN BBQ!

Good news: My mom is donating all the money you gave me for food back to MUN, so we raised $70 last weekend just by sitting around and eating hamburgers in my backyard! Good going, guys!

-Paula

Guess what?!?!

We got our countries from Harvard!!!

We will be representing Paraguay and Sierra Leone. At a minimum we will be bringing 15 delegates and at a maximum 21. Below is a list of the committees for each country and the minimum and maximum number of delegates they can have.

Country Committee Min Max
Paraguay Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) 1 2
Paraguay Historical GA on the Situation in the Middle East (1956) 2 2
Paraguay Legal Committee 1 1
Paraguay Organization of American States 1 1
Paraguay Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee 1 2
Paraguay Special Political and Decolonization Committee 1 2
Paraguay World Health Organization 1 1
Sierra Leone African Union 1 1
Sierra Leone Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) 1 2
Sierra Leone International Court of Justice 1 1
Sierra Leone Legal Committee 1 1
Sierra Leone Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee 1 2
Sierra Leone Special Political and Decolonization Committee 1 2
Sierra Leone World Health Organization 1 1

The ones in red are the specialized agencies…we went from only one to three! Exciting, right? Adena was on the International Court of Justice representing the guy from Sierra Leone and she won! Actually, I think that is why we got that country…

Ok, so think about your top three choices for placement, keep in mind things like working with a partner, comfort with speaking, and aspirations for this particular conference. The specialized agencies are much smaller and you will be expected to talk a lot more.

Also, keep in mind, you don’t HAVE to go on this conference. It isn’t mandatory at all, we are going to be going on another conference in the spring and if that is better for your schedule then don’t feel pressure to pick something for this one.

Ok, see you all next Friday where we get to talk about Harvard AND we get our t-shirts!

Next Meeting: Friday, May 27

Ok, so I finalized the artwork but there were some problems. Anything close to the UN color isn't really available, so I made an executive decision and ordered cornflower blue t-shirts (kind of like a "true blue") and changed the color of the writing to light blue. I saw a sample and liked the color combination so much that I thought it was a very good replacement. They should be in in about a week or two.

That's all folks!

Hey guys, I just got this email from Harvard. They are mailing out country assignments on May 16 :):):). You should all be very excited. We just have to mail them $50 check and I have NO idea where we are getting that from, since we are the second poorest club in the whole school.

Anyway,Collapse )

Ok, MAP called me yesterday and I am going tomorrow to approve the artwork! How exciting...

At this Friday's meeting we talked a little more abou the Middle School Conference. Adena is going to let us know when she gets in touch with the head of the Social Studies Department, so that we can start getting things like back ground guys, countries and FOOD in order.

SHIRT MONEY IS DUE WEDNESDAY. You will get an e-mail from me reminding you if you haven't handed it in yet. It is really important I get it in quickly though because we need these shirts for our Middle School Conference.

We have set the date for the MUN BBQ for June 12. I am not sure of the times, but keep that day open!

Next Meeting: Friday, May 6

Woohoo! It's a poll!

Poll #480275 MUN End of the Year BBQ

Would you be interested in having a BBQ on June 11th or 12th at Paula's house?

Sounds gouda like cheese.

I have a hot date...could it be at another time?
0(0.0%)
I'll have to see, I'm too much of a wild child to decide a month in advance.
1(25.0%)
GUH. Shut up. I know you are only asking because you get to make a poll on Livejournal.
0(0.0%)
Meh. I don't really like Paula. She smells.
